Laraki Epitome....Come again? If you haven't heard, I think you may want to take a look at this new supercar concept. The Laraki Epitome Concept was unveiled this past weekend at Pebble Beach, California. This creation was built by famous yacht builder Abdesslam Laraki. This supercar could be on the level of Bugatti or SSC, if Laraki produces everything that he promises in this concept. Built on the Corvette C6 chassis and powered by a 7.0 Liter twin-turbocharged Corvette engine producing over an astounding 1200 horsepower. The concept only weighs a very light 2,800 pounds due to the carbon fiber body panels. Laraki says he plans to build nine of the Epitome. With a price tag of $2 million, the Epitome is a steal with the likes of the cars sold at the annual RM auction that coincides with the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance classic car show.
I can appreciate a designer stepping out of the boundaries of his native profession. Laraki proves a point that he can shift gears into the realm of automotive design and produce a spectacular design. This supercar makes a statement and he has definitely caught my attention. For many I could see this concept being too busy or too much to handle. I for one like when designer shakes up the usual lines that we have gotten accustomed to and bring something new to the table. I think Laraki brings a new level with the Epitome and give the supercar competitors a run for their money. The Epitome looks like something out of the movies of Tron Legacy or Transformers. I am excited to see the future of Laraki Motors and who knows maybe this will spawn even more competition.
