On a recent vacation to Florida, I had come across this hidden museum known as the Sarasota Classic Car Museum. I did a google search of Florida tourist spots and even though it was a 2 hour trek from Orlando, I did not hesitate. The weather had been utterly horrible in the wake of Tropical Storm Andrea and it was a great chance to do something indoors. The museum has a unique car collection from the early automotive era to the present decade.
I found the staff to be very inviting from the get go. There were a few gentlemen that were eager to answer any questions that we had about the cars or the museum itself. I was told that this used to be a very popular attraction before Interstate 75 was created. There used to be a ton of a traffic that would flow through the town and feed the local economy. After the interstate was developed and the museum was not as profitable and was sold soon after. Today, the current owner is an avid car enthusiast that enjoys the museum and continues to share this attraction with many other car fanatics. Many of the cars in the museum are donated while others cars are showcased by families and car collectors for a limited period of time. Here are some of my favorite cars below!
I find that going to museums and shows will allow you to always take away something from the interaction and experience at these attractions. I appreciate the effort others put to share their passion for cars with fellow auto enthusiasts! If it weren’t for these individuals, the past would just be history and nothing would be passed on to the new generations. If you are ever in Florida and I would definitely recommend that you take a look at Sarasota Classic Car Museum.
